Exclusive Tibetan Antique Chod Drum Damaru

A traditional ritual drum with deep symbolic meaning. This Wooden Framed Skull Painted Chod Damaru is handmade in Nepal, featuring a double-sided hourglass form, hand-painted skull design, colorful chokor ribbon, and a brocade cover. The damaru is traditionally played by gently twisting the drum back and forth, allowing the attached beads to strike both drumheads in a rhythmic sound.

Used in Vajrayana Buddhist Chod practice, the damaru accompanies chanting, bells, and meditation. Chod, meaning “to cut through,” focuses on overcoming attachment, fear, and self-cherishing. Its rhythmic sound serves as a reminder of impermanence, while the hourglass shape represents the union of wisdom and compassion. The skull imagery also reflects the contemplation of impermanence and the transformation of fear and attachment.

A meaningful ritual instrument that brings traditional Chod practice and Himalayan craftsmanship together.
