Nataraj is depiction of supreme God Shiva as the cosmic ecstatic dancer. In this statue, the upper right hand holds small drums and in the upper left hand hold fire. According to Hindu mythology, the dance that Lord Shiva is performing as Natraj is a dance that both creates and destroys the universe.
