These beautiful rectangular Handcrafted Compassion Deer Wooden Incense Burner boxes are hand crafted by a Newar Family of Bhaktapur Nepal, the Prajapatis. These boxes are beautifully painted and have carvings . All the work in these incense burner boxes are meticulously hand carved and hand painted.

On the roof or over the front entrance of most temples is the symbol traditionally seen on all Tibetan monasteries - the Dharmachakra, flanked by two deer. The deer are peaceful animals considered to represent compassion and peacefulness. One is male and the other female, indicating harmony, happiness and fidelity.

The lid has a narrow elongated opening which works as an exhaust for the incense smoke and fragrance. Also, there is a place to store incense that can be slide open with the help of a hook at the side of the box.
This makes the box more attractive and creative.

The process of the carpentry goes as follows: After the wooden box is complete, it is then hand carved with beautiful Deer design and is hand painted by the Buddhist community of Tamangs in Kathmandu Valley. It takes upto 2 days to complete one box. The vibrant colors, auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism, beautiful designs and detailed paint-work makes this box special and decorative.
