Bone Prayer Mala

Bone Prayer Mala is a string of bone beads of various shapes and sizes. Generally, in Nepal, bone malas are made of yak bones or water buffalo bones. Yak bone mala is a little expensive than that made of buffalo bones. In ancient practice, even human bones were used to make mala.

The bone beads are either round, disc shaped or carved to form skull. Skull mala are the most popular among the bone mala. Skull mala relates to the birth and death, teaching us that immediately after birth, we start to die slowly and eventually. It is a reminder to be good to every body and everything while we can.
