One of the six main Monasteries of Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, Shechen Monastery, originally located in Kham, Tibet was destroyed during cultural revolution in late 1950s and rebuilt in Boudhanath, Nepal in 1985.
In the 1980s, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche transplanted the rich tradition of the original Shechen Monastery to a new home near the Stupa of Boudhanath in Kathmandu, Nepal . It was his wish that this monastery would maintain the philosophical, contemplative, and artistic traditions of the mother monastery.
This Shechen Blue Incense is handmade at the Tibetan Buddhist Monastery of Shechen, in Nepal. The recipe comes from the ancient and rare ancestral tradition of incense making from the Mindroling Monastery in Tibet, which is famed for the authenticity and purity of all its ritual arts. Part of Tibetan Buddhist ritual involves making external offerings to the Buddhas, the embodiments of the enlightened mind, as inspiration to realising this potential in our own minds, which is also the potential of every sentient being.
