Copper Oxidized Standing Tara Statue 17 Inch
This is a 17 inch high partly copper oxidized statue of standing tara made in Nepal. The statue i very nicely made with focus to detail by our artisans making it look as if it will come to life. The statue is very well made and is one of the oldest statues currently in our collection.
The statue portrays Tara, who is believed to be incarnate in every pious woman . She is the feminine counterpart of the bodhisattva ("buddha-to-be") Avalokiteshvara. It is believed that she came into existence from a tear of Avalokiteshvara, which fell to the ground and formed a lake. Out of its waters rose up a lotus, which, on opening, revealed the goddess. She symbolizes purity and is often represented standing at the right hand of her consort, Avalokiteshvara.
