This is a beautifully crafted Antique Copper Green Tara Statue. The statue has very minimal and simple design which makes this a very unique statue as compared to other statues of Green Tara usually found. Green Tara appears as young beautiful maiden.

She has one face and two arms, wears a crown bedecked with five Buddha images. She sits on lotus throne in Lalita attitude in half lotus posture. Her left hand shows the gesture of refuge vows and right hand the varada mudra because she is quick to answer the petitions of those who seek her aid. Tara is known as the great liberator from eight kinds of danger or fears. The cultivation of Tara sadhana will eliminate all demoniac and karmic obstacles, eradicates disaster and lengthen one's life span.

There are 21 forms of Tara. In reality they are all the transformed bodies of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of compassion.Tara represents the entire enlightened activities of all Buddhas and hence she is called the mother of the Buddhas of three times. Some precautions you should keep in mind when cleaning gold statues.
• In the case of gold painted on face, do not touch or not to clean with cold water. Gently wipe the dust with soft cotton.
• Do not use scrubbing cloths that are highly abrasive. Similarly, avoid using steel wool or metal bristled brushes as they will leave scratches on the surface of the Statue.
• Try avoiding touching gold statues too much. Oil from your hands can hasten the tarnishing process and reduce the life of your gold objects.
