Sleeping Baby Ganesha Copper Statue
This is a 2.2 inch High Bronze statue of Sleeping Baby Ganesha, The son of Shiva and Parvati. Ganesha, known for his ability to remove obstacles, is a deity who is commonly believed to be the son of Shiva and Parvati. He is revered as the lord of beginnings and the guardian of doorways, and his name is often invoked before starting a new task.
According to one of the most popular myths about him, Parvati created Ganesha out of the dry skin she shed during a bath while Shiva was away. She asked Ganesha to guard the door to her chamber. When Shiva returned and tried to enter, he did not recognize Ganesha and a fight broke out between the two. Shiva ended up decapitating Ganesha, only to realize later that he had killed his wife's son. In order to make amends, Shiva ordered that Ganesha be given the head of the first living being that was seen, which turned out to be an elephant. Ganesha is often depicted as a plump child, holding a bowl of sweetmeats in his lower left hand, while his other hands hold a rosary, an ax, and a broken tusk, which refers to a well-known story where he threw his tusk at the moon after the moon saw his stomach bulging from overeating.
